Surfers Retreat
A straightforward home. A generous outlook.

The home
Designed for
the people still to come.
Surfers Retreat shares its origins with Estuary Views: two homes designed for resale or rental within the wider East Street project. The brief combined economical construction with broad appeal and a design that would sit comfortably beside its neighbours. Here, a monopitch roof and an open living area give the home its own expression.

The wider East Street story
One home led
to another.
Our East Street involvement began with alterations to an existing home and grew through repeat commissions for new homes within the subdivision. Working with the owners and builder, we considered how each home could have its own character while sitting comfortably alongside its neighbours.

The spaces
A simple layout.
A connection beyond it.
Kitchen, dining and living sit together beneath the sloping ceiling. A wide opening leads onto the deck, extending the shared space towards the bush outlook. These everyday connections give the home a clear, easy-to-understand arrangement for its future occupants.

The details
Part of a place.
A home in its own right.
The house contributes to a coherent group of East Street homes while keeping its own form and relationship to the site. Its straightforward structure and indoor–outdoor connections reflect the shared brief: an economical home with the character and liveability to appeal to future buyers or renters.
